Offered at $30,000 OBO
Offered for sale is a fully rebuilt/restored 1969 model 911T engine. The engine is stamped’ Type 901/16, indicating that it is a USA version 110 HP engine. The engine number is 6196078, showing that it is a mid to late 1969 production engine.
We acquired this engine approximately 14 years ago, along with a large number of other parts. Initially, our plan for this engine was to use it as a test engine in our shop for carburetors that we would rebuild.
The engine has been completely stripped down to a bare case. The case was sent to Ollies Machine Shop in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, to have the case closed and line bored back to standard. The crankshaft and connecting rods were crack-tested and then micro-polished, and the connecting rods were rebuilt in our shop. All the hardware in the engine has been either replaced or replated in the original yellow zinc color. The head stud threads were replaced with deep Time-Sert inserts to prevent head stud thread failure, and new head studs were installed.
The oil pump and intermediate shaft were disassembled, washed, inspected, measured, and reassembled, as both were found to be within factory specifications. New intermediate shaft bearings were installed into the case, and the intermediate shaft and oil pump were installed along with new timing chains and guide rails.
A set of new old stock Gylco engine bearings were also installed into the case. The crankshaft assembly was reinstalled, and the intermediate shaft backlash was checked before closing the case.
A new set of 81 mm JE forged pistons with Biral cylinders have been installed, and the compression pressure has been set at 9.8:1. Although this is higher than the original 911T engine, I have had good results with this combination and have used it in several engine builds. The increased Piston size results in a 2040 cc displacement, compared to the original displacement of 1991 cc.

The cylinder heads have been completely rebuilt with new seats, valves, guides, and hardware. The cams are a stock 911T camshaft with rebuilt rockers installed that have been re-bushed and new valve lash hardware installed.
A new factory Porsche oil cooler has been installed, along with the updated oil pressure control pistons, springs, and guides. The fiberglass cooling shroud has been clear-coated to protect and enhance its appearance. The timing chain tensioners have been updated to the 930 turbo tensioners. A new oil pressure transmitter has been installed, along with new camshaft oil feed pipes and a new return line from the case to the engine oil tank line.

Exhaust
The exhaust system is also brand-new, featuring OEM Dansk heat exchangers, and a Dansk Stock replacement muffler has been installed.

Carburetors
The installed carburetors have been completely restored and recalibrated to suit the engine’s increased compression ratio. They are the original made-in-Italy Weber 40 IDTP carburetors, and both carburetors bear the factory Porsche parts logo stamped into the body.

A new Valeo internally regulated alternator, a new alternator harness, and a new alternator ground strap have been installed. A factory Porsche alternator belt and new timing decal were also installed.
This engine is complete from fan to flywheel and from air cleaner to exhaust. The engine has been run on our test stand, but the rings still need to be broken into the bores. We have completed the first service, which included a valve adjustment, rocker shaft re-tension, and cylinder head re-tension. All of the engine work that has been performed has been extensively documented via video and can be accessed on our YouTube page.
